Betsy's Birthday

We took Betsy to Bar Estilo in Teddington for lunch for her birthday. As a suprise, we arranged for my mum, my brother and his partner and her godparents and their daughter to be there too. Betsy was so suprised and thrilled, they are all people she loves very much and she was so happy to see them there.

She was also very pleased with her cake - as well as the icing trilby's and ray-bans I blipped yesterday I wrote on it, 'Jake, Elwood and Betsy Blues'. The writing was a little wobbly but I was pleased at my first attempt at writing with icing and Betsy certainly didn't care!

Nick and Nibs had to go after lunch as Chantelle was a bit unwell but my mum, Jeremy and Tony came back to the house and Betsy opened her presents. She was so pleased and appreciative of everything - she's such a sweetheart!

I managed not to tell Betsy's birth story - she's very bored of it now! Though Al always gets hysterical when I get to the part about the terrifying nurse looming over me as I arrived at Kingston Hospital in floods of tears and agaonizing pain, and demanded, 'Do you feel a bearing down in your back passage?!'

When I stammered, 'N-n-n-no?' in a petrified voice, she gave me a pitying look, sniffed, 'Well you are not going to have that baby any time soon!' and swept away. I didn't see her again but kept nervously waiting to feel the threatened 'bearing down', and perhapsthe fact that it never came should have been my clue that Betsy wasn't going to come out easily!

A lovely day, I am so proud of Betsy.
