I want one!

This is an orphan called Bert. I want him.

Went to see Reg of locally produced Reggie burger fame.
They are right in the midst of lambing and fast running out of space as it is too cold to put any of the older lambs and ewes out into the fields yet.

Reg has about 1,000 ewes to lamb and a team of 4 who do shifts around the clock. Just as I arrived twins were born, but I thought the photos of them may offend some blippers.

There have been a higher number of triplets than usual, but this can often cause problems as ewes only have two teats and may not have enough milk for three lambs or may even reject one.

If a single lamb is born, Reg will try and get the ewe to adopt another - either a rejected or orphaned lamb.

Lambs that a bottle raised are known as Cade lambs round here, but there are numerous local dialectal names. I'd love to know what they are called in your area.

Continuing the theme of professions that are surnames, Shepherd must be one that hasn't changed in meaning, but just diminished in number.
