Walking the streets

Well one impact of the virus has been is to give me plenty of time to read and think.

January has always been the worst month of the year in my opinion. It coincides with the ending of Christmas festivities, the onset of cold and damp weather and the slog to the next payday because of overspending at Christmas.

So 2020 Christmas was very different. It turned out to be less materialistic, a time to celebrate far more simply and a time to treasure the limited times one could have with one's family.

Since Christmas Eve I have stopped watching the news on TV. The prospect of listening to Di Saster, Cat Astrophy and then Phil Space and R E Peat bring all the gloom and despair did nothing to maintain my optimism.

As for reading I have read a significant number of books. None of reading could be said to be intellectually challenging but it has filled many hours with enjoyment.

Our big decision each day has become do we turn left, right or head straight on when we leave our flats for some exercise. Walking the streets has given us a new perspective on our immediate area and continually throws up surprises. So our walk has produced a new view point of the Shard. I am looking for a new building to focus on this year.

My extra is a continuation of the Days of Christmas with The ninth day of Christmas. The challenge was to find an image of dancers with similar tones to those of the Snowman. No such luck so I went with an abstract background.

Stay safe everyone and hopefully our leaders will sort out the supply change for the vaccine.
