Another Lockdown
We planned a trip around Fife, with the purpose of going to Newburgh to view the Newburgh illuminations.
Newburgh is a small former Burch located on the south bank of the River Tay. The main industry was Linoleum, however, that disappeared many years ago.
The main road through the town is remarkably ordinary but possesses many fine buildings. Quite a few artists live and work here.
Snow had been forecast and apparently had fallen over Fife. But not where we are.
We jumped in the car, taking face masks, gloves and sanitizer.
Turning right of the gate, we had gone no more than 600 metres when we encountered snow. It was the soft slushy variety.
We pressed on to Newburgh and the snow became heavier. Nothing too difficult to deal with. We made it to Newburgh and drove the along the main road admiring the Christmas Illuminations.
We were very impressed. We enjoyed them. We enjoyed the humour. We enjoyed the simplicity. They are great. The designers are Primary School Children.
In normal times I would have taken photographs. Pat took photos from the car, but none were suitable as the illuminations were blown out by the street lights above.
There are situations where the human eye will out perform an iPhone camera.
The lights were funded by a Community Group called Newburgh Action Group. They have pictures of each of the illuminations.
BBC Scotland did a feature on it. They have great photos of each decoration.
If you are interested an Internet search will find them.
We returned by way of Cupar and St Andrews to view their illuminations. Nothing great at all.
Of course, Councils have very important matters to deal with.
One bonus of the slushy snow was that the previously mud encrusted car was really quite clean with the mud removed by the snow.
The extras show the contents of "our Santa’s" sack and some of our kitchen spices.
