The canal in winter.
Four walks today! Barrwood, the canal and two trips down the wood ( one to refill our bird feeders).
The photo above and today’s extra were both taken along the canal. I just liked the cloud pattern and the stark bare trees. What you don’t see is the skin of ice on the canal to my left. That must make it hard for fishing birds like the little kingfisher we sometimes see.
They used to say that seagulls were the souls of mariners lost at sea. The gulls in today’s extra have probably never seen the sea; does that mean they represent the souls of boaties drowned in the canal?
