Hi, I'm Lloyd!

I'm a Llama, species L. glama (I may have missed out on the glama part). Just thought I'd mention that in case you were thinking alien or something. I know, I know, I'm a strange looking beast, but I have wonderful eyelashes and I'm productive if you shear me and do something creative with my coat. Nice to meet you. I won't spit.


Today I spent another fun couple of hours with my photography-loving buddy Mary Jo. (We stalked eagles for a day a few weeks ago). She also shares my frustration with cameras, lighting, exposure and everything photo related. We're debating what to do about it because we clearly need a little help.We were both having trouble with the same things. I don't know how all her her pictures turned out yet, but most of my appear to be over-exposed with strangly wonky colors.

Our first thought was to mortgage our homes and go buy very expensive new cameras that we could just set on "auto" and go, but fortunately we came to our senses before being presented with any papers to sign since I don't think that's the solution. Our next thought was to get some specialized instruction/help so we're going to investigate that possibility.

I took 225 pictures this morning and can count on the fingers of one hand the ones that are any good. Most of my troubles seem to be in the operation of the camera, so I am now going to spend some time seriously studying the fine points of f-stops, shutter speed, depth of field, lenses -- basically how to work the *&%$# thing. I'm going to be 73 in a couple of months so I need to get this problem solved sooner rather than later.
