After the rain

The days seem to be merging into one another- when I woke up I knew it was the day after Boxing Day but I did not know which day of the week it was. It was raining and the garden was very soggy after the effects of Storm Bella yesterday, but by the time we took Xena for a walk it was sunny and bright again so we had a lovely, albeit very muddy, walk. There were large puddles everywhere as can be seen here. Walking a dog is a very muddy business at this time of year and she needs a good wash after every walk.

It has been a lazy day with leftovers for lunch. The boys had their golf game cancelled as the course was waterlogged and a large tree had come down onto the course in last night's storm, so they went to the driving range instead where Gavin played a virtual round at Pebble Beach. 

Today we should have gone to Switzerland for our annual New Year trip as we have done every year for the past 15 years. Just another plan that has been scuppered by the virus, but at least we are healthy and safe.

I am making a small baked ham with trimmings for supper, and plan to have a lazy night - reading my book or watching TV, isn't life in lockdown exciting!
