Two Collared Doves

........... and a partridge in a pear tree ;-))

............ sadly there were no Turtle Doves around.

I took presents etc over to mums, she was very surprised to see me as she had forgotten I said I was coming ......... she threw open the front door and said “ come in and have a cup of tea “ even though we’ve told her repeatedly that nobody but the carers are allowed into the house ........ it was hard to refuse but I had to and was only there a couple of minutes because it was absolutely pouring with rain.

The return journey became really scary when a fog descended and biblical amounts of rain fell from the sky ......... visibility was less than 50m and the roads had started to flood but people were still flying past me at 80plus mph on the dual carriageway - madness!!!
I got caught out a few times by the depth of water as the car slowed rapidly even though I wasn’t going all that fast.
I was very relieved to arrive home and not get stuck as the village high street had already started to flood .......... it is now quite deep along there apparently.......and it’s still raining heavily :-((
All the surrounding villages are apparently flooded and water is coming up some people’s sink plug holes............ I’ve never known it get this bad quite so quickly....... I just hope we are high enough up to avoid it coming in here ........ touch wood :-/
