Queues, queues & more queues

This morning, on my walk, we passed by Waitrose at 8.15am and couldn't believe the length of the queue. It was longer than we'd seen it during the first lock down. And we're not even locked down yet! Is it because it's Christmas? Is it because everyone is panic buying? Who knows?!

Ann's intention was to do her last min shopping tomorrow, because to be honest, she's very organised (Christmas Dinner was ordered from the Cook Shop about a month ago) and so she only really needed to buy more wine she has a fear of running out of wine and some nice cheese in case Ann and her 'support bubble', Susi, (who is coming on Christmas Day) get a bit peckish after their Christmas dinner.

The trouble with everyone panic buying or whatever it is they're doing.................... it makes everyone else follow suit, so Ann said, 'Trixie, I think I'll just do my shopping today and then it's done. In Scotland you can't buy alcohol until after 10am the Waitrose shoppers were probably stocking up on very expensive mineral water so at about 9.45am Ann thought she'd pop over to our local cheese shop and buy some yummy cheese and then jump into the car and go to the supermarket and buy copious bottles of wine. Best laid plans and all that......................

The queue for the cheese shop stretched down the road, round the corner into the next street and half way along it. The queue has been there all day. It was still that long at 4.15pm and the thing is; it's a small shop so we can't even imagine that they even  have enough room to stock enough cheese for the number of people who have been queuing today.

Anyway Ann thought........................ We don't need 'posh' cheese, I'll just go to Aldi instead, their wine is cheap and drinkable and there's never any queues there. ............OMG! When Ann got to Aldi, the car park was practically full and the shop was busier than she's ever seen it. Ann started shopping in Aldi when she was shopping for Mrs R (in this Blip) during the first lock down and has pretty much been converted to an Aldi shopper!! …............6 bottles of wine, cheese and a few other bits and bobs bought and Ann has no intention of doing any more shopping for at least another week. ...........Oh and when Ann left the car park there were two drivers fighting over her space. ...........................Seriously??!!!

This afternoon we walked through Braidburn Valley Park & Colinton Mains Park to deliver a Christmas Card to Mrs R. She spotted us popping it through her letter box so came to the door for a socially distanced chat. On the 16th April 2020 I got Blipped with her on the doorstep. Who would have thought that we'd still be doing the same thing months later?

Walked home via the woods behind the old City Hospital but by this time it was about 3.30pm and it was getting dark. Ann was a bit scared. She said, 'Trixie, we will have to walk fast. I don't like these woods.' Sometimes Ann is a bit of a wuss!! I love the woods. There's a lot of squirrels so I had to do a lot of chasing. Ann just walked fast until we got back to civilisation.

…....................And when we got back to civilisation and our local area, there were still queues outside all the shops everywhere........................... Not just the food shops.................. the Charity shops, the nail bars, the hairdressers, the chemists, the takeaways, everywhere???!!!!

When will it ever end?
