I was awake quite early and cycled to the pool which was not busy. Once home I got a lot done, in fact I did most of the outstanding tasks, including wrapping the stocking presents and fiddling with plugs. My screwdriver keeps shredding the screw which is not good. But I got the cake marzipanned. It has a lot of brandy in it and there is only me to eat it and as usual it will probably end up as my birthday cake - ah well!

Another frustrating call to Hive. They are so unhelpful. How difficult is it to get a cheque stopped. Later an email asking for a copy of my bank statement. Seems I have to prove I haven't got it rather than them check whether it's been cashed.

My cousin called, just to check up on how I was and how things were going. He and A will be home quietly on their own in Troon.

Then it was time to head to Roseburn for the emergency pre lockdown haircut. It was dark and wet and I stupidly followed Google's directions instead of my own knowledge. Luckily there was no problem parking. It was good to see J and the hair is done. He'll be stopped working again on Thursday again, who knows for how long? He is the only person I have had physical contact with since April 16th when I hugged the family goodbye.

Had to get petrol (first since 1 Sept) and then into Sainsbury's at Murrayfield to get stocking pressies for me (!) and a few other bits and pieces. Despite what you are hearing not a queue in sight, v v quiet and lots of food.

Willow is out exploring again, not seen since early afternoon. I finished the day by ordering some more indulgences - oysters and langoustines. I'm doing my bit for the Skye seafood industry. They'll arrive for New Year. I feel so sorry for all these folk stuck in Dover. It is a shambles.
