The Shortest Day

A day for reflection.

This morning, speaking about the current freight hold-ups at Dover and Calais, the government asked the public not to panic-buy food, in anticipation of impending shortages.

This photo was taken outside Aldi, where for the first time that I’ve seen since they were installed in the summer, the red and green lights were operating to control a queue of shoppers waiting to get into the shop.

Hey presto, this evening, photos have been emerging on social media of empty vegetable shelves in supermarkets.
