The Black Mill at the Humber Bridge..
Exercise out today on the Trek, along the trans Pennine track river route, muddy, wet and challenging as the modern terms go.
The Mill isn’t so black as it was used for whiting- chalk from the Wolds which are directly behind the mill, with local lime kilns too.
When the sails failed steam and then diesel power was used to turn those large stones in the foreground. I bet they ground things fine as the old saying goes about the wheels of life.. turning slow but grinding fine...
Flask and pack up out day..
