A wonderful day !
(Tuesday 15th - incorrect date)
We walked up the hill and along the old coffin road to the place where Loch Lomond becomes visible
A wintery day .
My sister and John came to visit outside to exchange Christmas wishes and gifts . They drove for nearly 3 hours and J had put up the gazebo to shelter the decking, hoping it would not blow away.
I hoped I could manage to make the day special and comfortable .
My sister lived for 20 years in Dhaka and loves cooking with spices so on Sunday I had a creative cooking day making a sweet potato and chickpea curry , a dahl with red lentils and eddoes from Roots and Fruits and a Thai green chicken curry.
It was a lovely day with long conversations about the state of the world , our inner lives, our shared history and laughed a lot !
When we got back I went to make tea and the heavens opened! The rain splashed off the decking and the gutters overflowed. It was dark , and the decking was lit by light from the Christmas tree and a very large storm lantern with 4 pillar candles.
Instead of presents, we both donate to one of the charities they have helped grow in Dhaka which supports women at risk and survivors of trafficking.

We will never forget this day ! What we hoped for by way of practicalities came to pass but it is the beauty and wildness of nature that we will remember most ! An extra of Kate and John on the hilltop . The dark picture of our candlelit tea in the storm is too dark to share here.
