Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Soon....

Sunday again today and the third Sunday of Advent. I didn't go to church I decided to keep my coughs and sneezes to myself.
Kathryn dropped Eilidh off at 11.30 while she took Isobel to her swimming lesson. Eilidh and I put a set of outdoor lights around my ride trellis in the front garden, two more sets to go out tomorrow. I was amazed how good they looked later on when it got dark. They run on batteries and have very clever 6 hours on 18 hours off timers built into them.
Back inside and time for a hot drink then Eilidh went round the house checking all of her Christmas favourites were in place. When looking at our c̶o̶m̶p̶l̶e̶t̶e̶l̶y̶ ̶o̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶p̶ tastefully understated tree, she confided in me that she'd FINALLY managed to persuade her mum to buy some tinsel for her tree, apparently she's been working on her for the last few years..... that's my girl!
After having rearranged the crib scene, pressed the buttons on the collection of singing and dancing dogs, toys and Santas, she just settled down in the sitting room and played. I asked her if she wanted me or if she was happy being on her own, her reply was that of a big sister "No thank you, Grandma. I'm just enjoying the peace and quiet!" I told her that as I had two wee sisters I completely understood... out of the voice of babes....

Katy came by with Isobel and as they are trying to keep home quiet, (Jon is asleep at home just now - , night shift) she stayed for a while in the garage and we had a safely distanced cup of tea and chat. Lovely, and so were the brownies Ali dropped off on Friday, we'd had one yesterday and finished the other one off today, chocolate and orange flavour, delicious and enormous!

After Kathryn left I looked at the pile of unwrapped presents but decided to have a cup of coffee and read my Kindle instead. Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow they will be magically wrapped up. I'm re reading a crime series by J D Kirk at the moment, it's set in Inverness . I enjoyed them before but there is a new one out soon so I'm rereading them to remind of of the context and enjoying them just as much a second time.

We watched tonight's episode of His Dark Materials. I had thought it might be the last but, there's at least one more and most likely two, in the series still to come.

Parcels to post and a busy day tomorrow. I'm trying not to think about Brexit... Don't hoard they say, don't stockpile, I wouldn't even know where to start.

Keep well and safe everybody, the vaccines are going into care homes from tomorrow, Alleluia.
