Red Oaks

Finally, the two Red Oak trees in our front yard have actually turned a pretty red color! In the past, most of the leaves seemed to fall before they turned red. It’s a nice reward for all the work they create for me the rest of the year with their offerings of acorns, galls and mountains of leaves. I try to keep the footpath clear of the acorns and galls (those little hard round balls that drop off in the spring) because they can be a hazard to walk on.
