Not what he expected

Although I do a lot of reading and I know other readers are interested in what each of us is reading, I rarely recommend books, as everyone's tastes are so different. However, I have to blip this book, as I have really enjoyed it. Yes, it's about a mermaid, but it is also a love story. A good story told with compassion, whilst lurking underneath are many relevant issues imbedded in a people's history. 

It has been shortlisted for the Costa Fiction Award. 

April 1976: St Constance, a tiny Caribbean village on the island of Black Conch. A fishermen sings to himself in his pirogue, waiting for a catch - but attracts a sea-dweller he doesn't expect.

And I have finished all the Blip books - all eight of them, as I re-did the first two in the same way. A great offer from Motif and they have been steadily heading their way and returning one by one. I am so pleased with them.
