Wet snow and flood warnings

Deep joy.
Phone call at 10.00 last night to warn that flooding was imminent and to move furniture and valuables upstairs, pack a bag and take all vital documents and be ready to evacuate.
Woken up this morning by a call at 0700 to say the situation had improved from a warning to an alert.
A look out the window revealed a cold wet and white landscape but no floodwater. The river was around the ‘normal’ storm maximum or a few inches higher. Not helped by the debris from the last flood still jammed under the sewer pipe despite the EA having been told nearly three weeks ago.
Finally just got an email from a company in Germany advising us that their prices and delivery charges will be increasing in the new year to compensate for the ‘new regulations ‘.
