Caco wrapper
At this time of year you can buy wonderfully ripe persimmon fruits. I bought a pack of three and the centre one was wrapped in this wrapper. I looked up Brighi Mario of Cesena hoping for an explanation or a date for the design. But nothing. Cesena is on the Adriatic east over the mountains from here.
I did later come across this short history of the Italian orange wrapper https://thenewgastronome.com/orange-wrappers/
The squares of tissue paper were used to stop the spread of mold and were later replaced by wax spray.
Meanwhile it was a grim day as The Boss headed off for Florence in a hail storm. We have to keep a weather eye on the pass at 3,000 ft as it can get pretty dicey up there when there is snow about.
I darted out between the rain to scrape and brush back yesterday’s masoneering. Bought more bags of muck and enquired as to the price of a pallet of top notch German pellets - 66 x 15kg bags by €5.40 a bag at €365. You can get them cheaper but the more you pay the higher calorific value and the less ash they produce. We got 250 sq metres to heat but much of this will be a low background heat. Still, we can worry about all that once the system is up and running.
Luciano is starting work on the boiler installation tomorrow after lunch.
