Taking off the covers

The fierce weather was ablated and never arrived. Near to freezing last night and my dear steps fragile in their new mortar all covered were with Italian dust sheeting.

This morning they needed tuning up with trowel and wire brush. I hope all binds and cures as it should do. These field stones are so hungry for muck to fill the cavities between them you’d need a mixer and God’s own quantity of sand and cement.

Rain came on later and is set to fall the night through. The covers are back on. More trowel and wire brush work will be needed in the morning.
