Terrible Beauty

Today I started a new painting for the "Nature in the Balance" show that is coming up soon. Trish mentioned suggested themes for the paintings in the show and one of them struck a chord. This show is in conjunction with the "Vanishing Ice" show that will be at the Light Catcher Museum in Bellingham. It is about the consequences and causes of global warming and the possible solutions and outcomes. I chose the theme of cause and chose a photo of power plant smoke illuminated by the sun. It is a kind of terrible beauty. I am in the middle of this painting. Press "L" for a larger view. The painting is 22 inches by 28 inches in size and is painted in oils.
