Advent Sunday
Our youngest grandchild is two years old today. We enjoyed seeing her and her brother on screen. We hope we can be at her third birthday as we were for her brother’s last year.
I had an interesting catch up on video with one of my former Warsaw colleagues. Things are very different, politically. In Poland since we left there in 2012.
We walked in the late afternoon chill through Portobello cemetery with its Asian graves and colourful benches. We came back along the rocky shore and promenade. Despite the chill and the gathering dusk the beach was as busy as a sunny spring Sunday. Family bonfires, beach games, bikini clad swimmers and dogs with flashing collars. This was proof of widespread acceptance that meeting indoors is currently illegal.
We came home via Bellfeld where the recently erected Christmas yarn tree was proving a popular addition to Porty’s Christmas festivities. We spoke with one contributor and learnt about their Christmas travel dilemma. It is not an easy time for anyone this Covid Christmas.
The Portobello and Joppa church deserves full marks for lifting everyone’s spirits with this Advent delight! The yarn tree is in the extra.
