On Friday we make fire

We had a great John Muir session today at Mary Webb, greatly helped by the school being located closely to some amazing places to play. We walked down to a little waterfall and gave the girls the tasks of making fires with flint and steel. We then made this into one big fire ready to warm our milk for hot chocolate. While that was in place over the fire, the girls had a go at making some water filtration systems in coke bottles. Then we drank hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows before heading back to school. We delivered the exciting news that their main conservation project is going to be in Dormouse preservation and that Midlands News may come and film them. Hilarious and brilliant.

Honestly, I wished this was an option instead of Science and Maths on a Friday morning when I was in school.

Our lunch clubs today were far too delirious and giggly, mostly me and Ellie if we're truthful. I've now wound down with a beer by the fire.
