Can You Tell What It Is?

I have started a commission for the son-in-law today  --  a 'display tower' for his martial arts belts.
He is being quite specific and I can see it causing some difficulties as it progresses.

I made a small box like an elongated rugby ball this morning which needed slight refining. When I went to do it after lunch, it wouldn't came apart. Boy, that was a fight. But it has been sorted (for today).
