Something’s missing

In a normal winter these gaps in the sea wall would be blocked by now with the winter storm defences. There’s nothing normal about this year as we all know. Perhaps the forecasts suggest there will be no easterly storms this year? Maybe the lack of staff due to Covid regulations is the reason or maybe the recognition of the importance of maintaining easy beach access for everyone when meeting inside is forbidden.
Earlier we walked in the woods in the bright winter sunshine and bought a Christmas tree. It will, however, stay in the garden until mid December!
On a family video call we made plans to get together when it’s safe to do in the spring. This year our children and grandchildren will join us virtually around the tree. I suspect many many others will be doing the same.
