The D word

I endured a walk today in weather that can best be described using the terrific Scottish word dreich.
  
This worried me because I read that the Scottish government has published draft regulations that make it illegal to enter or leave the country without a reasonable excuse. If I can be said to have entered Scotland linguistically, I expect to be hearing from the Procurator Fiscal in the next week or so. But I think I have a reasonable excuse.
