Busy Busy Bee

The extraordinary ordinary

This morning was spectacular. Cold, bright and crisp. As my train came into Cannon Street I looked to the east to see the vaguest hint of Tower Bridge, some scaffolding appearing to hover above the mist and a million commuters, just like me, heading to their office.

My train eased to a halt and I knew I should take another look. I fought my way back down the platform, annoying everyone who was trying to head the other direction. I stopped to take this photo and realised I'd been joined by someone who was as moved as me. It was the driver. We chatted for a moment and I thought it was great that despite seeing this same stretch of track, day in day out, he still took a moment to appreciate the view.

I hope all those thousands of people marching over the bridge this morning started their day with the will to stop for a moment and appreciate something special.
