Adult Meccano
In order not to keep giving away my pre Covid clothes to Porty daughter because I can’t get into them any more, I decided that I need to exercise more and eat less which is why I can’t understand how it come to pass that today of all days my exercise has only consisted of a walk to and fro from the Ivy in St Andrew Square where I could not resist a lunch consisting of a huge plate of fish and chips complete with mushy peas.
It’s only later when I’m home and bursting at the seams that I think, Why would I do that, am I mad? There’s no need to answer, it is a rhetorical question and I am very sensitive.
It will be a very long evening with a nil by mouth restriction....... although the Edinburgh Gin is winking at me from the sideboard as I write.
With the ongoing construction work on the Edinburgh Futures Institute, part of the University, nearby, I am mesmerised by the meccano like scaffolding around the central clock tower. The metal intricacy is in stark contrast to the gentle lines of nature.
My extra is a last minute photo grab of the western sky from the patio at 4 pm.
