Cygnet

I was joined on part of my wander along the Canal on Monday by this young swan.

I was glad to see quite a large and healthy-looking family group on the water: two adults and four cygnets, and possibly another two or three cygnets semi-hidden in the reeds and weeds on the opposite bank. Not sure if they are all from the same family or whether there are other adults around.

This youngster decided to come up out of the water about 20 yards behind me and, after poking about in the grass for a while and waddling along the path for a bit, decided to return to feed by the water's edge. Enough adventurous travels for one day.
