Dinner with beavers

A live screening event by the Beaver Trust which although visually appealing was disappointing. For a start beavers are not nocturnal, they are crepuscular meaning they are most active during the twilight period, or on occasions during an overcast day. There was no mention of the authorised beaver trial in Knapdale, Argyll and no recognition of Rosanna Cunningham, who against the better judgement of many others expedited the first beaver trial in Scotland several years ago, and more recently supported the move to make beavers a protected species in Scotland.
That said it was interesting to hear about the Bavarian beavers where farmers are prohibited from farming within 5m of a water course. Tell that to the Tayside farmers.
Like Susan Calman (Secret Scotland channel 5) I have never seen an official Scottish beavers despite several forays to Barrandaimh in Mid Argyll. My only sighting was on the Triple Lakes Trail in Alaska seen moving logs from one lodge to another in broad daylight while eating a picnic lunch, never to miss an opportunity to promote this it is my extra blip from June 2019.
