Lunch at the OCP
It’s open again under Tier 3 so we whistled up P&K for a spot of lunch. Fish and chips and a bottle of the alkoholfrei Erdinger.
Later a break from the Last of Us and back to GTA V. That is one humdinger of a game. I fear I’ve hardly scratched the surface.
So, what goes on in the parish council (@Tonee Blair)? It seems our Secretary of Justice has a Bill which aims to banish hate from our lives. This is clearly a good thing, though I’m mindful that Mr Dalyell did predict that having 129 legislators with nothing much to do would indeed end up with them finding things to legislate on. Not an easy one, this. It might actually be easier to go for a 1984 solution and write the word hate out of the dictionary, making it much harder for the simple minded to envisage, never mind enact crimes in its dark shadow.
Hate, and the darkness in men’s hearts would previously have properly been the preserve of the Kirk, and would have been addressed from the pulpits of our nation, but having written religion out our lives we clearly have a gap that our secular legislators have seized and rushed to fill. The wisdom of our old preachers would have closed the circle by countering hate with love and allowing for repentance and ultimately forgiveness. I expect a couple of Bills to follow detailing the dimensions of the stool of repentance and some emojis to be shared on social media signifying forgiveness.
Well, that was fun. I wonder what today will bring.
