Homecoming - 1945

Dear Diary,

Veterans' Day today, a day to honor all who served our country, past and present.  This is a photo of my dad (standing) and my Mom beside him.  His brother is being silly in front and my two cousins stand on either side with their Dad.  They all look so happy to have the war over with.  I know my dad did, as he served from Normandy, through the Battle of the Bulge and right until the end before he was wounded and sent home.  I don't believe his brother ever made it overseas as he was much younger and entered service late.  May we never forget their service and sacrifice.  Some paid the ultimate sacrifice.
