Ham House in Autumn
L2 Day6 - a quick circuit of Richmond Park, car parks very full at 10am and lots of people walking, then to Ham House for a quick walk around the garden... not busy there!
Ham House was built in 1610. William Murray was educated with Charles I and as an adult was given the lease of Ham House and it’s estate in 1626. He developed the house and gardens, and later his daughter Elizabeth transformed the house into one of the grandest Stuart houses in England. Her descendents lived there until it passed to the National Trust in 1948. It is a rare survival of a 17th century house and garden. I visited in March when there was a carpet of purple crocuses ..blip of March 3rd, in front of the house, and then again in the summer blip of 27 June, when the lavender garden was in full flower.
