Outdoors

The week is predicted to get colder, and as I only have today and Friday off work this half term we decided to go outdoors today and indoors on Friday for our activities.

We haven't used our national trust membership yet this year and I thought we'd try somewhere we haven't been. So we set out for Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire. Having been I wish it was a lot closer to us as I think you could spend a long time exploring the grounds and all there is to do.

A strange place as the main hall was demolished in 1938 to make way for a new house, but the duke's divorce and the outbreak of the Second World War meant it was never rebuilt.

As the boys are between bikes we thought we'd hire and we managed a 5 mile circuit. Especially good for tiddler as it was his second outing without stabilisers . There were a few hairy and wobbly moments, but he got round, and if I'd realised I might have gone for the 7 mile circuit. At least now we know he can do it.

Hubby was a little twitchy as there was neither phone or Internet reception and he was expecting news of a prospective job. Unfortunately it wasn't to be so the rest of the day was a little lacklustre.

All remedied by a huge serving of meatballs and pasta ikea style (I trust the swedes have only let reminder into their processed meat products, if at all)

Back to work for three days and then a long weekend to look forward to.
