Diary of an Edinburgher

The Circuit

A sunny morning, and Archie set off with Robert, letting the whole street know.

I did a half hour on the bike. JR did her exercises as usual. And when Robert came back, we had a cuppa outside. Well, I did - Archie needed a bath straight away, so muddy was he, and JR did the deed. And the blow dry. After twenty minutes, he came rushing out to join us smelling nice and looking fluffy and clean.

But there was ‘An incident’ declared Robert in his Report. Archie barked at a dog that was crossing the street, and the dog suddenly lunged towards him, and his elderly owner tripped over and fell to the ground. Fortunately, she wasn’t hurt. And fortunately, she kept a hold of the lead, so the dog didn’t get hold of cheeky Archie.

JR was heading for her favourite shop, so Archie and I went along with her for part of the way. We stopped at Kauai, and shared a delicious wrap, then coffees.

Archie and I then continued down to the Grassmarket, and round our usual circuit. (Mary’s Milk Bar was closed). I just love all the architecture around the Old Town. (Extras 1, 2 and 3). We walked up the Vennel steps, and had the obligatory photo opportunity *yawn*

Coming through the Meadows, the lone drummer was on our route. He’s often in the Meadows, drumming away to his music on his headphones. We stopped to talk to him. He’s in three groups. No - he WAS in three groups, but that’s all dried up. He’s also a tour guide, and that’s come to a halt. But he teaches guitar online. He kindly stopped drumming while I took a photo (Extra 4) - Archie wasn’t keen on the noise. I wished him luck.

The election night in the USA! I’ll be glued to the radio all night.
(10, 385 steps).
