Monastic Curves
After a couple of days of relative inactivity, it was time for some fresh air and exercise. Mindful of this week's Mono Monday challenge on the theme of Curves and Circles, I headed off to Waverley Abbey for some shots of its ruined crypt.
Waverley Abbey was the first Cistercian abbey in England, originally built in 1128, and massively rebuilt and extended around a century later as the community's wealth grew, before being suppressed in 1536 under Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monestries.
