Family Day Weekend Fun

Anybody who's anybody is shovelling off their roof here in our fair city. Here DIY-ers RS and K tackle the accumulation. That's RS barely visible for the snow on the garage. Neighbours all around us were doing the same thing or had hired someone the day or so before.

Thawing days and freezing nights mean that meltwater from the snow drips into eaves troughs but can't flow away so it backs up under the insulating blanket of snow and then makes its way down framing members to drip in odd places like basement cold rooms and bathroom light fixtures. Or it migrates into door frames so that everything swells and doors only come open with a mighty heave and a screeching sound.

That is, the person heaves and the door screeches.
