Fossil Hunt
In preparation for our forthcoming birthday visit to the Natural History Museum in London, I thought I would polish up on my fossil identification abilities.
Here I present the Benchiceratops Corstorphinus which was recently unearthed during an extensive excavation in the Corstorphine Hill area. It is a remarkable find, not only for its rarity - (specimens have previously only been found in the southern hemisphere), but also because of the quality of preservation.
The Benchiceratops was a forest dweller, usually found on steep, south or west facing hillsides. Its anatomy was based around a central 4 sectioned spine that ran longitudinally through its body.
A lovely evening tonight.
