Slater Creek
Up until four years ago, we had leased a house along Slater Creek to stay when Jerry came out to Colorado for his hunting business. It is actually about five miles from the place where we are staying now. Jerry talked with the owner of the other property (he does not live here) and he said it was okay to walk along the creek since he knew I loved to take photos of this creek.
So today it was short sleeve shirt warm and we made the walk. We were astounded that the creek had been completely diverted at one location from the previous course where it wound around the rock and the high banks. We can only assume that the spring snow melt and runoff from the higher elevation where the creek comes from created a flash flood kind of event that completely eroded some of the bank away. Plus the beavers have built several dams along this creek. One of our favorite trout fishing spots is nothing but rocks with a trickle of water.
There may not even be any fish left.
We did not see any sign of elk today. Even though we looked hard and got several long walks in the process.
Tomorrow is another day. I am probably going to start complaining about hunting soon.
