Happily for me, my good and long-standing friend - of thirty-five years and counting! - Bob is a big fan of the town in which I live, which means he visits fairly regularly, sometimes with friends and sometimes with his family. He's also a big fan of Liverpool FC and is one of the presenters of the award-winning Anfield Wrap podcast.

Sadly for him, though, none of the pubs in Kirkby Lonsdale are showing football at the moment, which might not matter normally, but he and his family are visiting this week and Liverpool are playing tonight.

Fortunately, we have previously established that the Coach House in High Bentham does show it, so we returned there, this evening, with both Bob's youngest and my lad, Dan. Like me, Dan is not a fan of the football but he does like a pub meal and a bit of company so he was more than happy to tag along.

And we had a very pleasant evening, not least because Liverpool won 2-0, so we had a cheerful trip home, too!
