Fresh Pastures

I'm leaving Bellingham early on Thursday morning for Austin, Texas -- 2,213 miles away -- to visit my sister M and her family for six days. On the top of my packing list are "laptop, power cord, camera" and I'm eagerly anticipating some new subjects, in brighter light, to blip!

Austin is the capital of Texas, and the state's fourth most populous city, with 820,611 residents counted in the 2011 U.S. Census. The city's official slogan is the "Live Music Capital of the World," and the unofficial one, "Keep Austin Weird," reminds me of Bellingham.

It's northeast of San Antonio, which is easy to spot on today's blip, and here you can see that part of Texas in a larger context.
