Show In 24 Hours

Today was the day of the Dunblane Centre's "Show in 24 hours" Well, to be quite fair, it was the second day of the show in 24 hours.

Last night we gathered at the Centre at 6pm. At this point we were given the scripts for the show we were doing - "Fame" - and the the adults given their parts (the kids know theirs in advance). We rehearsed there until around 11pm.

Today, we gathered together at 11am, and rehearsals continued. Where there were groups (actors, musicians and dancers) the respective "teacher" would take the kids in that group away and block the scenes.

At 6pm, the kids who lived locally went home for dinner (those not quite so local went to M+S for some microwave nourishment). The adults cleared the function suite, rigged blacks and lights and set out seats (not only the performing adults; the Centre staff and friends did most of the work!)

At 8pm, it was time to start the show! Well, 8:10pm to be exact. People sat in those seats (mostly friends and family of those on stage) and we put on Fame! Admittedly, there were occasional bits and pieces of scripts hidden in notepads, piano music or on the drums, but we still put the show across!

Full marks to all of the kids and especially the Director, Pamela Jarvis - well done Pam!
