International Friendship Park

Friday
Neither of us slept well last night, so we had rather a late start to the day. The day promised to be dry with increasing sunshine as the day went on, so we left it till about 12.30 before heading downtown to the riverfront. We parked as usual at International Friendship Park, then continued through Sawyer Point, Yeatmans Cove to Smale Riverfront Park. International friendship park is a long thin park beside the Ohio River. It’s a very attractive park, taking its inspiration from a child’s friendship bracelet, with two interweaving paths threading their way through the park, and including various lovely design features, including these Gaudi-inspired sinuous benches, with a backdrop of beautiful Fall foliage. When we started walking, the sky was mainly grey, but with occasional small patches of blue sky, once in a while letting peaks of sun shine through. As we walked, however, the sun and blue sky gradually won through. As we were returning to the car our daughter Laura called us from Kuwait, via FaceTime, so we stopped for a while to chat, but I started getting cold, so we continued walking, and continued the conversation further once we were in the car. This evening we were pleasantly surprised to receive a call from Philip, our son, who is not as communicative as the girls, so it’s a treat when he does call! I have put a couple of other photos in extras, the first the Serpentine Wall, further along the River, and longer established, and the second another view from International Friendship Park
