Gloup
This statue of a woman holding her baby and gazing out to sea is part of the memorial to the 58 men who lost their lives in the Gloup fishing disaster (more here if you are interested. It was a lovely morning, and for once we weren't rushing for the ferry, so we had time for a short detour.
Its been a big weekend, and I haven't blipped for a couple of days as the pictures I have been taking are secret. I will post them after Friday, when all is revealed. I had more to drink than was entirely sensible last night, at the pre-Up Helly Aa party in the Cullivoe Galley shed, where much fun, music, and drams were had by all. There was even an obliging young, inebriated, presumably short sighted (well, he was wearing glasses), fellow bent on declaring his undying love for me. Next weekend will be even bigger. I have even bought a frock.
To round the weekend off nicely, we had tea with Jane and her three great children-no-longer, postponed from last week. Squash soup, lamb chops, and, of course, I had to make another sticky toffee pudding. Just what the hangover ordered. Back to normal tomorrow.
