Clear out continues
A day of some Big Successes, and a Big Fail.
I got rid of my old old computer, after many years of inactivity. Also two hard drives, several very old phones and an ancient iPad. I had been contemplating all this old technology for ages - years, in fact - and decided to take a pile of them in my wee back pack across the Links to the computer shop to ask if they’d deal with them. On the way over, boy, I was weighed down. I felt like I was on an army training hike with a back pack full of bricks.
But yes! They will recycle everything, and destroy the hard drives. Brilliant. I came back in the car with the computer. Job done. I celebrated by popping down to the French bakery for a coffee and a croissant to take home.
Robert had taken Archie out before I got home. Just as well they went in the morning, as it’s rained most of the afternoon. But no worries - we both continued in clear out mode. I sorted through paperwork and got rid of bags of stuff. I found an original iPod - the one with the wee wheel - I’ll keep it.
When Archie came home, he had a bath, then sat by the fire to dry out. In fact, he and JR have been there all afternoon.
I decided to have another go at baking muffins. I was very careful this time with measurements. Read the instructions many many times, and popped into the oven eight blueberry muffins of the right consistency - not sloppy like last time.
While licking the bowl, I noticed it was not the usual taste... The muffins were in for well over the time, but every time I poked them, they were still not done. Eventually I took out some rather browned muffins which were still soft in the middle. Odd... Perhaps they needed to cool down before eating. Bakers amongst my readers will have probably guessed what’s wrong... Yes, I put in baking soda instead of baking powder. They were in identical tubs (apart from the very clear label of course), in the same drawer.
I had to have a G&T and a bag of crisps to get rid of the taste of three of them...
Third time lucky.
