The Phoenix
Stuck inside Dublin's M50 ring road because of Covid I'm now limited to Phoenix Park for my recreation. Beautiful autumn colours over the weekend and this is a shot of the eponymous phoenix on its column in the centre of the park. Surprisingly there never was a real phoenix in Phoenix Park, the name is an anglicisation of Fionn Uisce, meaning clear water in Irish, after a spring in the park. That's uisce as in uisce beatha, water of life --- whisky (or whiskey in Phoenix Park, I suppose).
