The Pumpkin Patch

We've been out all day today, starting with a visit to the pumpkin patch in Sompting.  There were so many pumpkins, it was amazing and the girls had a great time filling a wheelbarrow with quite a collection, although they knew we weren't going to take them all!  You can see the concentration on their faces in this shot as they were looking for different coloured ones.  We ended up with 6 small ones of different shapes and colours and will make a display with them rather than carving them.  They already have two big ones at home that they''ll carve, and I have two to make pumpkin soup with.

I then took them to see Errol the Emu on the way back, and after stopping to pick up some lunch we went swimming at the gym.  The pools were fairly quiet and  no sooner had we got in than a girl about Scarlett's age came over and asked if they'd like to play with her, so they had a great time jumping in together.  Both girls are great swimmers and Violet even swam two lengths of the big pool with me.

Before heading home we stopped off in Rottingdean and met Elif and Luca for a drink and a catch up at Costa.  This is the first time I've been in a cafe, I much prefer to be outside, but luckily it was fairly quiet in there.  I don't feel comfortable though in light of the current situation and would much preferred to have been sat outside, but with the children it was better to be indoors as the cafe is on the main road.

Then it was home to prepare the dinner, Alan let the girls have a play on his keyboard which they enjoyed and tonight we had no issues with them going to bed.  Mind you, mummy had told them that if they didn't go to sleep she wouldn't be happy and that I had instructions to put them in separate rooms - the warning worked!

I gave in tonight and had a couple of glasses of red wine, so didn't quite manage the full month, but I've had three weeks of no alcohol, so that's not bad.

I'm not getting much chance to keep up with Blip at the moment, but I hope you're all ok and have a good weekend, I'll catch up when the girls have gone home.

Today it was announced that Warrington, where the girls live is moving into Tier 3 next Thursday which has the toughest Covid restrictions due to the increasing numbers there.  So I'm really glad that we took this opportunity to have the girls to stay as the advice is not to enter or leave the area, and I don't know when we'll get to see them next - I'm hoping that there'll be a chance at Christmas but who knows?
