The dropped stitch

resting on the slip

A busy, 'trying to do a lot of things', day.

To Flotta in the morning. The rain was heavy and showing no sign of stopping, so I opted (with the ferry guy's permission), to nip off, read the meter and nip back on whilst vehicles and passengers embarked for the leg to Lyness. This saved 2 hours on a busy day and also saved getting soaked and hanging around in the cold. All very satisfactory.

Kirkwall work in the afternoon and a chance to collect an inter-library loan I have been waiting for. Such a brilliant service, enabling us living on an island in the north of Scotland to borrow a book from the British Library in London.

My blip was taken at the Sailing Club slip, Kirkwall. Set apart from the new, bright yachts, I liked this old wooden boat, its condition reflecting the grey gloom of the weather.
