On Sunday I’ll go to Staffordshire to see my family, both because it’s my sister’s birthday today, and because I’m trying to mentally prepare to leave the country, without the green light to yet do so.

A very close call with the announcement this afternoon that Stoke-On-Trent will elevate to Tier 2 on Saturday. My sister lives a few miles from the boundary between Stoke-On-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme borough councils. For now we are permitted to see each other for a socially distanced takeaway in her kitchen.

Meanwhile in the office, tiers of a different kind, as the ongoing uncertainty around my status and residence tipped me over. Luckily our HR team are really good at constructive advice.
