The path ahead
I am trying to minimise looking at the news - it is all so depressing, Greater Manchester is now heading into Tier 3, joining Merseyside, and where we live will soon follow I guess.
I was prepared to cut the government a lot of slack, mistakes handling a pandemic of this nature were inevitable. But easing out of lockdown too early in the north on the basis of lower rates in the south and then encouraging everyone to eat out for a tenner, plus indicating that it would all be nearly back to normal soon, was a disastrous strategy. If it had been managed better we would not be where we are now.
Rant over.
On a more positive note, on our short walk this afternoon we saw our first winter thrushes - definitely redwings, and perhaps (they flew too soon to check) fieldfares.
