Detail from the door at St.James Church, Dursley
Today we met my cousin and her husband for a pub lunch in Dursley. Afterwards we went for a quick stroll around the town. The parish church of St. James is one of the most impressive buildings in the town, dating back to the 13th century although much of it has been rebuilt at different times throughout its eventful history. In fact, in 1698, the steeple collapsed, unfortunately killing some of the bellringers who were inside! The old wooden doors of the church particularly caught my eye and there were several interesting shapes and textures that I could have used for today's blip but this hinge, although very simple in design, I thought made a most pleasing image.
